St Johns River kayaking - A Wildlife Odyssey

Suzanne paddled a birding tour with us yesterday and today Jana joined us too! With the first cold front of the year all the birds are arriving from their northern haunts. The Pied-billed Grebes, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers, Eastern Phoebes, Bald Eagles, American Bitterns and Kingfishers are all down to enjoy some Florida sunshine. We got to see tons of other birdlife too. Ospreys, Red-shouldered Hawks, Limpkins, Anhingas, Black and Turkey Vultures, Great Blue and Little Blue Herons and Great Egrets just to name a few. The Manatees are back. We got to see 6 of them in the clear spring run and some others that were heading out to feed. Today was a great St Johns River wildlife odyssey.
