Kayaking the Wild and Scenic Wekiva River

The Wekiva River never ceases to amaze me. Sometimes it's high and tea colored and other times the river is Gin clear. Sometimes we see nothing but green and the gray of the Spanish Moss in the trees and then it's all Fall colors like it's starting to get now. Today the water was clear and there was lots of wildlife. Red-shouldered Hawks, Osprey, Kingfishers, Great Egrets, Little Blue, Tri-colored Herons, White Ibis, Eastern Phoebe and a Great Blue Heron wading up to his belly. Up at the island we could see the spring vent under the water with it's lime green stone edge and there were tons of Turtles out sunning. The Red Maples are showing their Fall colors and it was a great day for a paddle.
